Clusters pushing their boundaries at Bogota's TCI Global Conference

This year, for its 20th anniversary, TCI Network's Global Conference was held in Bogota, Colombia on 7-9 November 2017. The central theme of the event tackled the "future of clusters through cross-country & cross-region collaboration".

Hosted by TCI member Bogota Chamber of Commerce, the conference focused on collaboration and complementarity alliances between developed and developing countries. The outlook? Better policies, better business, better management practices and the identification of cluster emerging trends.

Like the previous editions of the event, the 20th TCI Global Conference brought together cluster managers, economic development policymakers, opinion leaders, academics, consultants, development agency representatives, ministries, business people and multilateral agencies among many others.

The training is a part of the Croatia Cluster Competitiveness Global Value Chain (GVC) Assessment Project, where the World Bank is assisting and supporting the Government of Croatia in its efforts to improve the Republic of Croatia’s competitiveness. The programme focused on selected Global Value Chains, as identified in specific Priority Thematic Areas (PTA), and Sub-thematic Priority Areas (STPAs) defined under the Croatia’s Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3), adopted by Government decision on 30th March 2016.

The methodology provides a perfect foundation for successful implementation of Smart Specialisation Strategies (S3).

Cluster Excellence Management training takes off in Kazakhstan

EFCE, Competitiveness and KIDI, together for a great start.

EFCE, Competitiveness and KIDI, together for a great start.

The Cluster Excellence Management training programme for capacity building with the 'Kazakhstan Industry Development Institute' and its partners went off to a great start in Astana. Focused on Cluster Policy Deployment, the training programme will propose an in-depth review of the most updated knowledge on value-chain development and cluster excellence.

During 11 months training participants will be given the opportunity to discover, learn and apply new concepts as they go through a comprehensive and field-oriented curriculum based on the methodology and material developed under the European Cluster Excellence Initiative (ECEI).

To the organizers and stakeholders, the first day of the training was the much-awaited culmination of months of planning.  In order to build-up the strongest possible programme EFCE joined forces with international consulting firm Competitiveness, sharing teams and creating synergies.

The Foundation is looking forward to continuing its work with the great team at KIDI.
