The Cluster Competitiveness Report is the definitive measuring tool and presents a rigorous and solid methodology developed by Michael E. Porter. The system is based on his research and findings on the microeconomic foundations of competitiveness during the last twenty years and is supported by a robust conceptual framework.
The Cluster Competitiveness Report has been developed based on the diamond structure created by Michael E. Porter, which shows the four different determinants of regional competitiveness. Michael E. Porter works at the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness (ISC), based at Harvard Business School, which has always been dedicated to developing his research
The Institute enjoys a reputation of being totally dedicated to the understanding of competitive strategy and how these theories can be adapted for use by governments and businesses worldwide.
The Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness in Boston and Foundation staff have collaborated in the development of The Cluster Competitiveness Report and will jointly ensure its consistency and quality.

Catalonia is the first government to lend its support to the Cluster Competitiveness Report. The region has 12 years of experience working with clusters.and it has been used as a point of reference for many clusters throughout Spain and also Europe. Catalonia's reputation reaches as far as Harvard Business School where it is used as an example in many case studies.
